Vitalblock is a premium quality mineralised salt lick suitable for young stock, beef cattle, dairy cows and horses. The blocks are presented as single, 5 or 10 kg blocks with a convenient central hole for suspension. We recommend that the primary mineral supplementation to any animal is a fully formulated powdered mineral product from the Vital range but the Vitalblocks are ideal for all stages of cattle to help prevent boredom and ‘top up’ key trace elements. They also help to combat sodium deficiency, which can lead to signs of heat stress in affected cattle. Feeding good levels of dietary elements to cattle helps to promote optimum health and therefore performance. The Vitalblock has been formulated to complement the range of powder supplements manufactured by Vital Animal Health. This is important because minerals interact, with some minerals reducing the availability or impact of others. The Vitalblock is therefore a complementary and important source of trace minerals when fed in conjunction with other Vital minerals.

Copper plays a vital role in energy metabolism, so deficiency problems can result in poor growth rates, sub-optimal fertility and poor performance. High levels of iron and molybdenum in forages also ‘lock-up’ copper, making deficiency problems even worse. It is essential that adequate levels of copper are fed to all cattle. The Vitalblock contains no intentionally added iron and contains a mixture of two different copper sources in order to effectively combat copper "lock-up". Zinc has a key role in skin and hoof condition, along with promoting good udder health. Iodine also plays a part in promoting good skin condition, as well as ensuring good growth rates. As with copper, zinc is an important element for energy metabolism and deficiency can result in a lack of vigour. Selenium also plays a key role in general health and immunity, as well as helping to reduce the risk of problems such as dystocia and retained placenta. The Vitalblock provides a source of all these key trace elements, as well as supplying a good level of sodium, which is essential for animal health.

The Vitalblock should be fed free choice and whilst a clean source of water should be available at all times it is important not to present blocks immediately adjacent to water sources.
